Convention Video Reel using drag-and-drop editor of Canva

When I was tasked with putting together a video reel for Iristel booth for convention, I knew it had to be both professional and engaging. I wanted to showcase the products, the team spirit, and the innovative work we do. To bring this vision to life, I turned to Canva for its simplicity and versatility.

  1. Concept and Planning The first step was to conceptualize the video. I sketched out a rough timeline of the video, identifying the sections I wanted to feature.
  2. Collecting Media Next, I gathered all the media I would need: video clips, photos, and logos. I sourced clips from the website, including products, services, and other key information. I also got some logo animations and company branding elements to integrate seamlessly into the reel.
  3. Choosing the Right Template With Canva’s user-friendly interface, I browsed through their wide variety of video templates. I picked one that had a modern, sleek design to match our company’s professional yet approachable brand. The template was easily customizable, allowing me to tweak the layout, fonts, and transitions to fit our theme.
  4. Editing the Clips Canva’s drag-and-drop editor made it easy to place the clips into the timeline. I trimmed down longer footage to highlight the most impactful moments, ensuring that each clip was concise and kept the audience engaged. I used transitions to keep the flow smooth and to emphasize key moments.
  5. Adding Text and Captions I added text overlays for context—such as the names of speakers or event titles—to ensure the audience could easily follow along. I chose bold and readable fonts, keeping them consistent with our brand style guide. Canva’s text animation feature helped make the titles dynamic and eye-catching.
  6. Sound Design To bring everything together, I selected a background track from Canva’s extensive music library. I made sure it was upbeat but professional, complementing the energy of the video without overpowering the voiceovers or dialogue. I also included sound effects for transitions, adding a little extra flair.
  7. Final Touches After reviewing the video several times, I polished the final details. I adjusted the audio levels, checked the color balance, and ensured the pacing felt right. I also included our call-to-action at the end, inviting employees to stay engaged with the company’s upcoming projects.
  8. Sharing the Video Once I was satisfied with the result, I exported the video in high quality. Canva made the process seamless, allowing me to download it in various formats for sharing across different platforms. I uploaded it to our internal communication channels and also prepared a version for social media.
